Through participation in the Culinary Arts Team, members learn skills that can be transferred to their daily lives in addition to job placements in the food services industry. Members gain food preparation skills, including the chance to acquire a Safe Food Handlers license. While in Culinary Arts, members work with staff on menu planning, food purchasing, managing inventories, preparing delicious and nutritious meals, and cleaning.
The Culinary Arts Team provides healthy and delicious meals to the Vincent House community. Culinary Arts staff and members work together on preparing breakfast and lunch each day in a state-of-the-art restaurant-style kitchen. Meals are made from with fresh ingredients, allowing members to be involved in the food preparation process from start to finish. Different meals are served every day, including international and vegetarian recipes, leading members and staff to new culinary horizons!
In addition to planning and preparing breakfast and lunch, the Culinary Arts Team engages members in additional fun projects, such as catering special events, creating a “Smoothie of the Day”, and decorating birthday cakes.

Members have the opportunity to develop retail sales and customer service skills while preparing and selling healthy snack options.
